Anatomy of a caged bird
Chirp, chirp, chirp
they think I'm singing
but, my insides are dying.
I yearn to be free,
free as my fellow species.
I cry, I wail
no one recognises my pain.

Chirp, chirp, chirp
I'm tired of doing nothing but to chirp.
bird catcher, if you can hear me,
please set me free, I am destined to fly,
I know you worry about how I might die,
but I'm hopeless now,
all I do is chirp and sigh,
while you feed me crumbs with a smile.

Chirp. Chirp. Chirp
My fellows sing, not in pain.
They soar the sky
and deworm the grass.
I envy their liberty,
my broken heart is to yearn an eternity.
Emancipate me bird catcher
I beg of you,
for you would hate
to be confined in a birdcage.
