Our Blackness
We breathe the air they tried to take
We laugh out loud with our souls in place
We drink, we eat and we sing our songs
even though we know our days may go wrong

Hatred borne to one - but not the another
Only to live to say - man why do they bother. They won't stop and yet continue to try to destroy a sister straight up inside

But no matter what they say or try to do
Know that our blackness will always reign true. Come at us with your absolute worst
as we lay down the rules of the meaning of our true worth.

Blackness in our beauty - blackness in our strength - collaboration of our blackness - not wary of the back fence

Although my blackness matters - yet not to everyone - for it took many shades of many blackness - to know - that it just wasn't the one

The colors of our human races - layered with many shades - blackness with shade of white our generation borne - no matter what shade we wear - know we weren't the child of the corn.

Children of kings and queens with no apology needs - taken from what we knew - to be a servant but only as seeds - as to find out - that we grows from the roots - as well as from the seeds

So, as my blackness stays black and my words reigns true. I will remain black even when their faces turn blue. Their words my sting and even be untrue but there's no way I will live my life - living in their untruths.
