Each drop a memory

Empty streets, a mournful song, the wind a mournful cry
Haunting echoes of your name

Once, your laughter danced with mine
Now silence hangs a heavy shroud, where once our futures bright
Just cold December wind and haunting memory

Where did the warmth of summer go, the sun that kissed your hair?
Lost in winter's icy grip
You walk now with another
While I trace circles in the cold, wet sand
Haunted by your final touch, the whisper of goodbye
Where did you vanish, swallowed by the night?
Did you take the stars, the laughter, and the light?
Empty streets reflect the hollowness within
A silent city singing of what could have been

Every passing face
A desperate hope that soon my heart will meet
Your familiar rhythm, the cadence of your soul
But only shadows answer, taunting in the gloom
Leaving me adrift in this tempestuous room
They say time heals all wounds, but mine bleeds crimson still
The clock ticks onward, mocking with each chime
Marking the hours of a love lost in time
New Year's bells toll, a chorus of despair
As I drown in memories
A prisoner in my chair
This hollow space within my chest, where joy once brightly burned
Now just embers of regret
A love that never returned

Is it the city weeping, or just my lonely soul?
Each droplet carving stories, taking their toll
Of promises broken
Dreams swept away
Jealousy, a serpent, coils around my throat
Whispers of her name, a bitter, stinging note
Was it always her?
Was I just a passing dream?
A fleeting fancy in a love too grand to gleam?

Tonight
Beneath the weeping sky
With every raindrop's fall
I mourn the love that slipped away
The dreams that couldn't stall
