Forget and Re-member

Seasons change and the moon in phase
We are all the same but with a different face
Our lives seem wasted when we only focus on mistakes we made
Better that than the joys of yesterday
Keeping us in nostalgic dismay
Another habit we need to break

Grip lost on the sense of self inside
From repeating manners no longer disguised
I’ve been around the block and places in between
Interchanging my armor to fit the scene

Gazing at reflections of yourself
You stop asking what and begin to figure out why?
Answers we sought are only found inside
The desire to escape our downward spiral
Becomes vital to our own survival
To leave that which lies in ruin
Forgive your past, the only solution

Shake hands with death
Embrace your darkness
For knowledge is irrelevant
Without the experience

Stray from the path of others
but help them if off they wander
In forgetting the people I tried to be
I find solace in the one true me.
