The Mighty Oak
I want your arms to snake around me like the vines on an oak.
Not caring in the slightest bit that it causes me to choke.
Careful of my mistletoe, it's poison for the unwary,
Adding extra support to all the weighted limbs that I carry.

When everything gets hot, let me cover myself in sap.
It's eaten up so quickly with a soft, continuous lap,
Of the tongue against the covered wood of my thick, protective bark.
Feeling soft constriction of each touch, during daylight or the dark.

When ever there's a rain shower, to wash my branches down,
You hold on tight and shower with me. I'd never let you drown.
The clouds begin to part and the sunlight's shining brightly,
Together we drip dry slowly, our warmth increasing slightly.

Forgetting other denizens of the forest's green-hued growths.
No world exists beyond you and I, that's all I need to know.
Hold on forever, if you like, as long as my journey goes on.
We'll be the one for each other, until our lives are done.
