On Joe, On Java
How to know for certain that the coffee's too strong

Is your heart providing bass for the current song?
Is your heart racing?— is it trying to escape?
Has your nervousness become angular in shape?
Is your entire body acting disgruntled?
Is your vision becoming narrowed or tunnelled?
Is sleeping a daily fight?— were you up all night?
Do you not display the healthiest appetite?
Are you a bit nauseous, perhaps overly so?
Are you unable to swallow?— to digest crow?
Can you hear your long-deceased ancestors' voices
Whispering about each of your poor life choices?

If to most of those boxes, you're saying check, check
I've been faced with most if not every last spec
I hate to be the bearer of ill-fated news
I hope the following does not give you the blues
I'm sorry, but the coffee's far too strong for you
The coffee is too stiff— it's too potent— too true
But don't you go fretting— don't be drawing a frown
Don't go painting yourself as an ever-sad clown
To all your troubles, there's an easy solution
You can resolve all your problems with dilution
They constitute coffee ranging from strong to weak
Ranking from wake the dead, to mannerly and meek

On Joe— on Java, you do not have to give up
Just pour yourself out a smaller, much weaker cup
