"Festive Echoes: A Poetic Transition To The New Year"

Do you hear the echoes of Christmas?
The cinnamon scent when you hug your grandma.
The cozy warmth of your fuzzy socks and sweater.
The joyful grin on kids' faces when they tell Santa their wishes.
The festive thrill when couples pick out a Christmas tree.
The tender look in a father's eyes when he gives his daughter a gift.
The sparkling lights that adorn the city center.
The sweet taste of hot chocolate and ginger cookies.
The gentle silence of a snowflake falling.

Do you hear the echoes of Christmas?
Because all I hear are the cries of children.
The desperate voice of a father telling his son 'it will be alright'.
The acrid smell of war and blood.
The anguished weeping of a mother begging the doctor to save her baby.
All I see is a fire that devours everything in its path.

What will my future look like?
I tremble with fear.
But I cling to a faint hope.
That somewhere out there.
Is someone who will rescue me from this nightmare.
Someone who will restore the echoes of Christmas.
Someone who will illuminate the city with love.
Someone who will catch the snowflakes and build me a snowman.
Someone who knows what my future holds.
Someone who will be my Home for tomorrow.
