The Undelivered Letter
Dear Dad,

When I was younger, much more delusional, I thought you were on an important mission, That would explain the many vacations I didn't know, Like everyone else, I just imagined you were an astronaut or a pilot.

Turns out you were around, just not in my life for too long, Just summers and Christmases, You were too busy with your other fam.
I guess I was just a backup plan.
With all those lies you told me, The older me just started to understand. But it's okay, Dad,
I have learned to appreciate my mom,
For she is a gift from God.

And Dad, I forgive you, Now I see that you wanted all of us to meet, But you didn't have the strength. I love that you gave her my name, Genesis, the beginning. The beginning of what, Dad? It still is a clue, But hopefully someday I will know.
I'm sorry you're not here to see how good of an auntie I am. Although it took a few years to learn, I love her anyway.
And thank you for not telling me I have older sisters that I would have needed, Not cool, Dad, but P.S., they're great.
