Once Upon A Lifetime (a soldier’s story)
Once upon a lifetime
In a past so long ago
I lived on a razor line
Scars of battlefields echo
Lock and load watch for foes
Young men with death to deal
Far away I was from my home
About to die in a hail of steel
Captain said we were the brave
Our country needs us now
I could not find anyone to save
I feel he was wrong somehow
All nite shots ring out
Another friend with a bullet hole
Orders come from all about
Yet each night snipers had control
My mind could not find its shine
Blood and tears firmly stained
Fear and panicked thoughts collide
Even now I can’t explain
We thought it was for peace
We thought we were the best
We thought this war would cease
Just foolish soldiers from the west
With all the guns we had to bear
All the troops sent home half dead
Now nobody cares
About the nightmares in my head
Once upon a lifetime ago
A young brave man went to war
Nothing has changed nothing to show
Still don’t know what it was all for
