Depressing Love
In shadows deep and darkness veiled,
Where sorrow's seed has long prevailed,
You come to claim what's left of me,
To take my soul, my heart, and see,
How weak I am, my spirit wanes,
In this world of endless pains.
Tear me apart, for what am I?
Just a vessel born to belie,
The hope that flickers, dim and faint,
Within this heart so full of taint.
If I'm good for anything at all,
It's in the suffering I proudly sprawl.
So use me up, my love, you see,
I offer all that's left of me.
I know I'm but a speck suspended,
One of many souls untended.
Deceive me, use me, then depart,
Leave me hollow, shattered, and torn apart.
But please, I beg, don't vanish now,
Take all my love, just show me how,
To believe that I could be more,
Someone worth loving, to adore.
My love, it's all I have to give,
Please understand, and let it live.
For in this realm, so cold and bleak,
My love is fragile, timid, and weak.
Yet, it remains my only claim,
A flickering light within the flame.
So please, my love, don't fade away,
Let it guide us through the disarray.
Know that my love is all I've got,
Through the battles fought and battles lost.
I yearn for your touch, your comforting embrace,
To fill this void, this empty space.
Oh, please, my love, don't slip away,
Stay with me, for just one more day.
For in this world, so fraught with pain,
I believe that I could still sustain,
A love so true, a love so pure,
Despite the scars I must endure.
My heart, it beats, it longs to be,
Someone worth loving, can't you see?
So take my soul, my heart, my all,
But please, don't let this love befall,
Into the abyss of forgotten dreams,
Where nothing's as simple as it seems.
Please, my love, don't disappear,
Stay with me, hold me near.
Take all my love, and let it grow,
Show me a love I've yet to know.
For in your arms, I yearn to find,
A love that's gentle, patient, kind.
Please know, my love, I can be,
Someone who's truly worth loving, see?
