Neverwinter
The endless winter disrupts my dinner.
My kitchen table sours through the air.
I am taken away by the vast cold.
Drifting near space, all alone.
I awake to see flakes of blood buried in the snow.
My body temperature near zero.

I push myself off the white desert floor.
Nothing to be seen for miles.
Except the roof of my house, reduced to tiles.
Slow, steady steps in this treacherous landscape.
With nothing but loafers and pyjamas.
I walk for miles–
nights–
days.

In the distance, I see the sun.
A bright, burning lantern of a sun.
What looks to be some people scouting
Some children having fun.
I cry for help but to no avail.
Looking back–I left a coarse, crimson trail.

Numbness eats away at my red fingers.
The air weighs on my eyelids, shutting them closed.
My diaphragm breathes slower and slower.
My heartbeat goes lower and lower.

The light, far away, fades in grace.
A bright star in an ancient space.
My face slams against the concrete snow.
My nose breaks open and blood pours.
The soul beneath my chest starts to corrode.
Buried beneath a coffin of my frostbitten mistakes.
I clasp my hands together
before I pass away.
