The Phone Call
"I will come to your house after you settle down in Kolkata", mom said when I called her this morning.
" I want to see your new flat. I heard you can see the entire city from the balcony".
"Yes mom. I will take you there once I come there"
"Oh, you are coming the next month?" , she asked me.
" I will come the next May , mom"
"But I am on medication. I have chemo sessions", she said. " Will I live that long?"
"You will, mom."
She smiled. " Stay happy. Stay blessed, Rose"
"Stay well. Stay healthy, mom"
The phone disconnected .
That night, I prayed again and asked God
to extend my mom's life.
