“Lacrimosa”
Barefoot spinning in circles along hardwood flooring,
movement set with a shriek and a bellow,
on strings the bow plays.

Lifted toes in tilt,
hands waved in the air,
hair; capricious and whimsical.

A praise of pulchritude
held within the reflection
of eyes, of windows, of mirrors and chandelier fixtures.

The flick and flitter
of a hand woven cotton dress
as it keeps to the rhythm of its dance partner.

Solo in step in a home alone,
with only the symphonies
of the long dead.
