Paragon
Self sufficient, independent, are words to describe thee
Handing out advice without requesting a toll or fee
The image of you blends in with our reality
Inspiration I uphold with the utmost sanctity
But comparison breeds the feeling of inferiority
Stumbling behind, I project you as a paragon of superiority
Desiring control in life, needing a sense of autonomy
But dreams are crushed amongst this declining economy
Guardians so overbearing the inspiration melds with envy
Hold my hands up in revolt from the sweet nothings they try to tell me
Whisked away into my rusted cage my frame becomes green
That paragon so far out of reach was the last thing I had seen
