Microbial Moments
The summer alive, lurched with a balmy thirst,
commanding itself into all that responds
to its unquenchable urges.
A skittish little bag, papered and brown,
squirrelling along down the adjacent path.
In every fibre, knowing to run from the wrath
of those barrelling brutes that give chase,
as would a hound with a tankful of gas.
In these microbial moments does arise
this thankful nature of mine—
an innate sense of life, bursting
from the inanimate and the mundane.
