Buried alive

In the depths of darkness, hope seemed to elude,
Loneliness, an old companion, my spirit subdued.
Would a savior arrive, rescue me from despair?
Or was this my fate, to suffocate in the air?

No hell could compare to this eerie abyss,
Where time stood still, in an endless twist.
With every breath, I yearned for release,
Hoping for salvation, a moment of peace.

I strained to move the rope, make the bell chime,
Praying for rescue, marking the passage of time.
The stench was unbearable, yet strangely devoid,
Insects, like flowers, on my body enjoyed.

Then, I awoke, in a place so surreal,
A nurse by my side, her concern was real.
She spoke of an unlikely hero, a man so disguised,
Ugly on the outside, but beauty in his eyes.
