sunset of life
drawing always nearer
the paramount of fear,
but i shall not live in
shade under wrongs
nor where i do not belong,
i still have room to steer.
there are flames climbing
contracts that now are binding,
but there is a place i can
not be easily reached
as i walk along this beach,
continuing and readily winding.
closing time upon the earth
the hour of assessing worth,
but much more i have to
say—promising to be heard
with truth living in every word,
until new light—until new birth.
