Writing Hacked- 9
Disclaimer: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER!

I have no formal education in creative writing or literature whatsoever. I learned everything by myself through youtube, reading, research, understanding, and writing away as much as I can. I make a lot of mistakes whether it be grammatical or any other kind. I hope you can point them out and help me correct it so I can learn more. I will try my best to provide you errorless guidance though. I am not going to pretend to know everything because I really don't. I have a lot to discover yet.
Whatever I am going to tell you here is through my own understanding and experience.
Enjoy.

HOW TO WRITE A GOOD STORY

🔸🔸🔸Character Writing🔸🔸🔸

Please check out the previous parts:
a) Writing Hacked (1-6): Plot Writing

b) Writing Hacked 7- Character Writing - Types of characters

c) Writing Hacked 8- CW- Important traits of character.

(Continued)

🔶3) Important relationships

As I have explained in the earlier post, your characters should have deep and meaningful relationships with some of the other characters. It could be from the very beginning or formed later on.
A budding friendship, a newly found romance, villain's interest in one of their sidekicks, or someone who directly influences villain through a belief system.
Mentorship, love interest, family bonds, friendship, a strong dislike for someone, caring for a junior, etc.

🌸Tip- If not humanly connection, you can choose to show their affection towards animals. Many anti-social people like pets and it speaks a lot about their compassionate character. They could be just misunderstood. On the other hand, a villain who desires a strong sense of control might fortune a pet constantly. It adds horror to their vibe.🌸

🔶 4. Appearance

This is a very important aspect and it's entirely upon writers whether to go into great detail or vaguely dismiss and leave the rest up to the reader's imagination.

Mainly described traits are the skin tone, eye color, hair color, height, demeanor(an athlete would have a proper posture while a person will the sedentary lifestyle would be slouching or loose in their actions), haircut, choice of clothes(loose, tight, fit, trendy, old fashioned, business-like, witch's robes, the cape of a hero, mask, etc), sometimes a distinct shape of the nose, lips, and jawline are described.

🌸Tip- People often change their original appearances like dying hair, tattoos, piercings, nose job, plastic surgery, wearing makeup or wigs or always putting something as little as one kind of clip in their hair. This speaks a lot about their character and personal choice and gives an insight into what kind of category they fall in.🌸

See how easily richness can be added. Just ticking this one by one and choosing from the options you would have a good character easily.

🔶5. Education

Necessary information which should be considered very thoughtfully. If your villain is a serial killer, you would want the person who is catching him to specialized in the field. Your protagonist could be an ice-cream seller but other main lead should have at least one person who is aware of such things.

Education or qualifications is the main component of a character. Giving them a job (full time/ part-time) will automatically tell the reader what kind of appearance they would have. You can differ or deviate from stereotypes easily.

A doctor would be smart, wearing a white apron, would be tired most of the time hence dark circles, could be old or they could be a very young, rookie intern who is forgetful.

We ordinarily portray researchers as an old man with a thick mustache and wayward hair growing back (courtesy of Mr. Einstein) or your character could be old but very clean, younger-looking might wear a purple colored wig.
It's all up to you.

Education is particularly important because, during the quest or the climax, the knowledge of the characters comes to great use.

↪Example- Let's say a doctor is the protagonist is she is fighting an alien.
Her knowledge of anatomy could be applied while killing the alien. Maybe, alien doesn't have a heart. He has another vital organ.

This is the reason we see many characters with professional jobs like police, artists, detectives, doctors, lawyers, researchers, engineers, professors in every story. They are either very close to the main character or they are family.

↪Example-

⚠ SPOILERS AHEAD! If you have not read my story 'Garden Of Spiders' until now, go check it out in the story section. I will be using it in many examples since I have used very basic methods in it⚠

A) Detective Davis was like a mentor to Christina. She liked how smart he was and he always broke down a complex topic to simpler ones. His experience greatly helped her to learn.

B) Harry Potter had Dumbledore as a mentor. He was one of the greatest wizards of all times and had knowledge many wizards were unaware of. That is why Harry got the best advice and understanding of many situations. Hermione's dad was a dentist and that could be the reason she was very smart and disciplined.
Ron's brother studies dragons which helps him identify them easily in later stories.

C) Shiva's ally was Kattappa who was the general of the army. When he sided with Shiva fo defeat Bhallaladeva, his plan helped a lot.

You see how professional and type of education plays a tremendous role while writing a character.

🌸Tip- As a beginner, use professions like a tool to help the protagonist get what they need. They want a magical sword, then make one of their relatives specialized in weapons of myths and legends. It's really simple.🌸

In the next part, we will learn about the remaining points so we can learn about the types of characters in detail.

I hope you understood everything clearly 🙏 Thank you.
