Homely Haven

After climbing heaps of uphills and downhills, we eventually came across a structure upon where we intended to rest our weariness for the night. Our vision was met with a solitary house and the same snowy slopes we had grew tired of seeing on the backdrop. Shadows of large trees loomed from behind the architecture, threatening to subside its impressiveness. Still the mansion stood, appearing both modest and momentous. It was a welcoming presence against the forbidding grey horizon. The double stories manor covered about nine hundred square feet of land, consisting of two units of angular angle from our perspective, with at least three chimneys constructed from the vaulted ceiling. A sizable number of frosted rectangular windows decorated the face of the brick building, communicating the characteristics of a friendly home.

On the left a little nearer to us, long shadows from the tall pine trees were cast from the west, strayed from the inside of the gate. Cold breeze grazed our cheeks, notifying us of its dropped temperature. We eyed the arch pathway curved from outside to into the yard, disappearing around the corner to the right behind the wooden fences, built on stacks of red bricks. Some bushes grew atop it, blocking us the view of what we assumed was the entrance of the house. Aside from a level layer of piled snow on it, the planks appeared as sturdy as it looked new. The wooden gate was opened. An anticipation sparked in us as we made our way into the mansion.
