Whether you like it or not, you have to deal with family, school, or work responsibilities, no matter what!

That was an universal truth and for Vijay Vinayak, it was a pattern since his childhood. When his father met with a crippling accident , starting from collecting his pension to cleaning him, became his duty. His parents marriage had happened when his mother's uncle had wanted to get his blind neice married. Vijay's father Vinayak was a student sponsored by the uncle and the agreement was given. A house changed hands , jewelleries , insurances , bank balance. It was adequate to keep the family well fed for few generations.

Then his father met with the accident and money started flowing out like a fountain. Vinayak would travel abroad and take advise from every doctor on his condition. Everyone said there was no hope without a miracle. By the time Vinayak realised he may have to live life as a cripple, the bank balances were all gone, his wife had taken up the compensatory work of cleaning tables. She was blind yet she strived on and there was a small pension too that his father received.

Vijay quietly pondered that if his education was sponsored by someone like his father's, he would marry anyone too. Unfortunately no one offered him any short cuts. After long days of hard work, studying, working as a clerk, he turned himself around to be a recruited in a senior position in the government. People saluted him and he soon charmed everyone and made his way up.
On that way, he met another woman , ambitious and focused and they married.

All was well. He had almost forgotten hard times. His parents stayed in a different appartment for most days of the week and visited them some Sundays. His mother still worked and his father still spent money on his miracle cure, though now on cheaper options. Vinayak left adequate money for them in the bank account to survive. Luxuries, well , he believed luxuries were not required.

In his personal life, everything was good and suddenly his wife, Mala, got pregnant. Mala, was not too happy but soon they had a two kids, one after the other, two beautiful boys. Then amidst all that accomplishments and complete life's, disaster stuck and Mala while traveling to office after a small foreign trip, had a major accident. Despair filled Vijay's soul when he heard the news. He remembered how the life had changed when his father was crippled. He could see how crushed his wife's legs looked.

He was determined to be a model father and husband. He would show the world what was it .. to be responsible. With that vigour and plan, he started visiting his wife and encouraing her to start life again and not give up. "You can work again.." he encouraged. He did not always appreciate when the senior nurse corrected .. walk again.

It's the same thing really to him. Even if she could not walk , the wheelchairs he had specially ordered from abroad will help her navigate office floors.

Days turned..
... Life was indeed dreary. Full of work and sacrifice on repeat. Thinking of others before him, kids, duties , bills. ..

In this midst, walked in a breeze of fresh air ,bearing fresh hope, called Doctor Sidda. An accomplished surgeon, with childlike gayness , she stole his sleeping heart with one glance.

Love.. an emotion he had wanted to skip, found and gripped him well. Sidda was always the joyful spirit who made every difficulty small. He started to forget his wife's name, his twins routines. He was asking his blind mother and cripple father to help him manage , as he got lost in a dreamland of love.

Soon his wife was ready to be released and there was no excuse to keep visiting the nursing home..

Sidda smiled joyfully and touched his hand then went to her next operation as they bid goodbye. He came home started ordering food for his family, all dependents, all weak and felt like stabbing his foolish heart with the spoon.

As he went off to sleep later that day, he noticed a small message on his phone. "Vijah, Sidda here. Save my personal number for emergencies. Wife's operation went well, so she should be able to walk. You have a lot on your plate. "

He deleted the message and the number, breathed a sigh of relief. No more pain for love. Then as if involuntarily clicked on undo delete ..
