A Scattered Love
In and out of the stores my cousin and I went, checking out the styles of jewelry and clothes to the furniture. It felt like old times having her back, sharing stories and laughing. Just as we were about to head into the diner, I noticed she froze. Uncertain as to what had just happened, I too froze, looking at her. Unsure as of what to say in that moment. Then, I saw what she saw. The diamond necklace on the mannequin that looked familiar. By now, she had placed her palm on the window that separated them and leaned in closer for a look. It couldn't be, could it, the same thin silver and gold chain with a larger diamond in the middle of two smaller ones. Before I could ask anything, she was gone.
