Author's Note: This is my first time of writing a story so I hope you like it.

In a peaceful town called New Bark Town, a girl and a boy with their pokemon are on top of the roof watching as the sun sets.

The girl's brown hair is tied in a pigtails and a white rounded hat on top of her head with a red ribbon on it.

Her outfit is consists of a black top under a quarter sleeved dark red sweater with a liege beige collar along with a denim jeans, a white knee length stocking and a pair of red shoes with white soles. Her pokemon is a Marill in who is seated comfortably in her lap.

The boy wears a red hoodie with a collar, a black shorts and a pair of of red and white sneakers. He wears his a mustard yellow and black cap backwards with his navyhair showing off. His partner is a Cyndaquil which is clinging to his shoulder.

The said boy was staring at the girl seated beside her in which the the girl was not paying attention for she was too focused on watching the sunset.

"Beautiful." The boy murmured havjng heard what the boy said the girl turned around to look at the boy with a very huge smile that made the boy blush.

" I know right." The girl happily said.

" You know no matter how many times we watch the sun sets it still remain beautiful don't you think so Ethan ?"

"Yeah." The boy named Ethan answered.

The girl looked down at her lap and hug her Marill. "I wish things would stay the same between us Ethan."

Ethan averted his gaze from the girl and instead look at the sky which already turned dark. "Nothing would change between as Lyra, I promise you that." Ethans softly said.

Lyra just smile and look at the the starry sky jsut like Ethan. She close her eyes and said gently, "You better keep your promise Ethan."

"I would Lyra, I would." Ethan said firmly.

A WEEK LATER

Ethan knock at Lyra's house, in which he heard Lyra yelled enthusiastically, "Wait a minute !!!" It makes Ethan laugh quite a bit for Lyra's happy go lucky attitude.

As the door opened Ethan blush a bit seeing Lyra carrying her Marill, " Oh Ethan, it's just you, I thought you were helping with Prof. Elm in his research today?"

Ethan started rubbing the back of his head, " Well the thing is uhmmm... ahhh.... Ummhhh." Ethan said mumbling nervously, witnessing her childhoodfriend like this makes Lyra laugh in which made Ethan stopped mumbling.

"You know you can tell me if something's bothering you, Ethan. We're friends after all." Lyra said still laughing.

Ethan close his eyes and took a deep breathe for some moments which made Lyra more curious on what's Ethan going to say to her.

Ethan started rubbing the back of his again, " You see..... Lyra, I - I, Prof. Elm kinda uhmmmm kinda give me an errand? " Ethan said unsurely.
"What kind of errand?" Lyra ask curiously.

"I'm gonna go out of town to deliver something for Prof. Elm's acquaintance and I'm not exactly sure how long I'll be gone, it might take a while to reach Cherrygrove City."

"I see." Lyra said her optimism replaced by sadness. She started lowering her head unable to face her friend which causes Ethan to feel uncertain about accepting Prof. Elm's errand.

Lyra hugs her Marill tightly, Marill sensing her trainer's sudden change of mood started squeaking hoping to comfort her trainer.

" Lyra, I-" Ethan started but was cut off by Lyra saying, " Just take care okay? And call me when you have some time."

Ethan face sidewats and crossed his arms, " I can take care of myself Lyra, I'm not a kid anymore." Ethan finishing his sentence with a hmmp in which Lyra laughs at how Ethan acted. Seeing Lyra laugh made Ethan smile for he doesn't want to see Lyra sad.

"Anyways Lyra, I promise you I'll call you everyday and take good care of myself until I came back home." Ethan said grinning.

" You better keep your promise Ethan." Lyra said sternly.

" When did I ever broke a promise to you Lyra?" Ethan asked jokingly while grinning.

" I guess you're right." Lyra smiled. " But be careful out there."

"No worries, I have my trusted Cyndaquil with me and he'll protect me from any form of danger, right Cyndaquil?" Ethan lowered his gaze to his partner.

" Cynda- cyndaquill. " The fire mouse pokemon replied proudly in which both Ethan and Lyra laugh.

2 YEARS LATER

Lyra stared at her window sighing with her head being supported by her palm. She just continues watching the droplets of water fall from the sky with her face having no emotions. She cstarted closing her eyes and sighed.

The only thing she can heard is the sound of the droplets falling from the sky.

She remained in her position for a few minutes until she heard her someone squeaking which made her open her eyes and sees her pokemon Marill looking worried at her. She smiled feeling grateful at her partner in which Lyra caressed Marill's cheek making her partner squeak happily.

"I'm fine Marill, don't worry about me." Lyra told her pokemon.
"Marill ma?" Her Marill ask.

"I'm totally fine, I just recalled some memories, that's all." Lyra said albeit sadly.

Marill sensing something wrong with her trainer move closer, once she was close enough, Marill puts her paws near Lyra's forehead and nuzzle it with her head. Lyra smiled, a sweet and sincere smile at her pokemon's sweet gesture.

"You know, I'm glad that you're still with me Marill, after all you're the only one that I've got left and cared for me." Lyra told her Marill.

Marill squeaked as if saying, " I'll always be by your side, forever and ever."

Lyra stand up carrying her Marill to her chest to look at her window, watching the rain with her, hugging Marill tightly.

"I've missed him Marill, I really do." Lyra told Marill sadly.

"I wish he never left, without him I feel really alone you know?" Lyra continued and lowered her gaze to see her Marill, "He's not only my closest friend but he's also my only friend. I waited and waited for him to return you know but he never did, not even once he stopped by to visit or even call me. Sometimes I even wonder if he still remembers me."

Tears starting to form from her eyes but she still continued. "But then again maybe he has already forgotten about me, After all who am I kidding, He achieved so many things in only two years, he disbanded Team Rocket and became a champion, it's just a wishful thinking of me that he would even remember a clumsy and a crybaby girl like me who couldn't even do anything right. Even my parents have given up on me and who've got to say that Ethan wouldn't do the same."

Her Marill try to wipe the tears in her trainer's cheeks with her paws, and squeaking to her trainer in which lessen the pain that Lyra's feeling right now.

"You're right Marill, I shouldn't worry about it too much." As she finish her sentence she heard her pokemon's stomach grumble making her laugh in which causes her Marill to face sideways trying to hide it's embarassment from her trainer.

"Let' go get something to eat, it's quite late anyway." Lyra said in which her Marill nodded and leaping out of Lyra's grip.

Marill excitedly walk to the front door and waiting for Lyra to open the door.
"You always act like this ahen it comes to food Marill." Lyra said looking at her pokemon while at the same time opening the front door in which Her pokemon run past her to get into the kitchen. Lyra laugh at how cute her pokemon's gesture are.

As Lyra was preparing food for her and Marill, they heard the doorbell ringing.

"I'll be right back Marill." Lyra said while removing her Apron and walking towards the front door leaving her Marill crossed her paws and huff.

"Coming!!" Lyra yelled and when she finally pulled open the door and saw the very same boy that left her two years ago albeit the boy is taller than the last she saw him and more attractive than before.

Lyra was shocked to see him in which made her slightly gaped her mouth, she inspects the boy more and notice that the boy is soaking wet, in which Lyra blush because it only heighten's the boy' appeal, but what caught her offguard is the smile that the boy gave her.

He may have change physically but the way he smiles didn't change in which causes Lyra to blush even moreso than before.

All the memories that she and the boy spent came flooding to her all at once, in which made her eyes quite teary. Seeing the girl speechless, made the boy smile even wider and as he come close to Lyra,
