A CHOICE NOT MISTAKE
There was this guy that stays in the room opposite mine.

Initially, I thought of him to be dancer.

Whenever a girl pays him a visit, he would lock his door and the next thing you will hear is loud music emanating from his room.

I mistook those hours behind close doors as dancing sessions.

How naive was I .

Out of all his visitors, this particular girl caught my attention.

Her visits were frequent unlike the other girls, so I assumed her to be the main girlfriend.

Somehow , her visits always collided with the time I would be outside doing something.

Soon I became used to hearing "please is he around?" before she knocks at his door.

Sometimes, if he wasn't around she would sit on a bench at the entrance of the lodge and wait while I do my washing.

With time , I kept her company while she waited for his return.

Even tho , I was in year 1 while she was in year 3, we became friends.

Our friendship soon extended to meeting inside school.

We bonded well and our discussion flowed. It was then she started opening up to me.

I realized that behind those smiles was a depressed girl.

She started dating Aaron from her SS3. Both were in the same class .

Their love life continued after they gained admission in the same school.

She would always lament how Aaron badly treats her and don't value her and to crown it all , he still cheats on her.

She always hoped that one day he will change and become a loving and caring boyfriend.

How poetic!

First semester of their final year , their five years relationship met it's end.

It was painful for her.

As a close friend, I consoled and encouraged her to let go that one day she will find a good guy who will appreciate her for who she was.

After her final exams , we lost contact and I didn't see her or hear from her again.

Just last week at the mall, I bumped into her.

Looking at her finger , the ring on it was a clear indicator she was married.

Guess to who ?

Aaron .

We exchanged contacts again.

On the phone, we talked like old pals.

With pain In her voice, she told me her regrets for accepting Aaron back into her life as he became worse.

I wanted to console her like I always do .

But I changed my mind and said "God will see you through"

If after that five years , she still went back into his arms, then it wasn't a mistake but a choice.

This isn't just about my friend.

It is about Nigerians

We have lived the past 8 years in regrets, please don't make it 12 years.

Don't be carried away by their sweet talks and penny they will squeeze into your palms.

We all know the right man for the job.

LETS VOTE HIM

We were not created to always make bad decisions and weep.
