Morphing obsessive behavior
Obsessive behavior or thoughts are characterized by repeating the same thoughts /behaviors and living through a seemingly endless loop. This can harm our mind, health, life and connections .It can drain/misuse our energy. The good thing is it can definitely end and even be morphed into something beneficial.

There are many ways and factors to transform this. But the first step is to actually realize our behaviors, and to develop awareness. This is the step that takes alot of conscious effort .

Part 1. Cultivating Awareness:

"Bring it to light, and you're halfway there "

There are many ways /methods to cultivate awareness but I'll share a few :

1. Through the eyes of someone else.. Sometimes we realize our behaviors only when someone points it out. This could be a life coach, mentor, therapist,or a close friend etc . When they point it out it's like a sliver of light beaming at our subconscious,we have the opportunity to make changes from within. Seeking help from a professional would be ideal.

2. A self audit-Taking matters in our own hands.... Sometimes honestly ,we just become tired of the life we are living and wonder "why"? .This helps us dive deep into self reflection and make changes..." Where there's a will there's a way".Keeping a journal for self reflection, keeping a log of our daily behaviors (one could start with external behaviors before focusing on our inner world ) , or reminders to assess our behaviors by use of an alarm clock can help. This way you can see how often on paper you engage in a certain behavior.

Part 2. Inspiration:

Here's where we can plant a seed that will reap rewards we couldn't imagine..but first one must believe.. we must believe we are capable of transformation/change .We also must develop and rekindle a strong "why/purpose ".

1.Observe others who transformed (Again the transformation can be mental , physical or lifestyle ,or all of the above )
And try to surround yourself with them and take their good advice.

If you know these people in real life ,try to be around them , if it's online or a distant icon, you can follow them on social media ,or put them in your vision board ,or even make a collage for your inspirations.

2.Observe Thyself.

If we take time to actually study ourselves we will discover many valuable and admirable things about ourselves.

Try to view yourself in third person ,or objectively study ones self without judgement. Look for positive qualities ,and note down your triumph moments . Literally write down how far you've come and what you've endured ,and see your own transformations .

3.Observe nature

Nature is the greatest teacher ,for we are a part of it and we are it's student.

Nature can calm us by giving us answers just by it existing . In a fast paced world we often forget that nature is always transforming. Notice the seasons changing, how rocks are formed ,how some animals/flowers can survive in the harshest of conditions and still be useful and beautiful.

Part 3. The Change:

Taking action is essentially the core of everything.Sure ,we can have good intentions ,but without our foot on the pedal we will get nowhere.

Here are some tips for taking action and how to change

1. Be aware that it might not be pretty or feel good. Any kind of healthy change usually will be tough especially at first . One must learn that to change and to do the right thing, one must not depend on how it feels but to simply do it.

2 . Hold yourself accountable or let someone else do it for you.. You can make promises to yourself ,and watch your relationship with yourself grow stronger as you do what you say you will do..One could also have a close friend ,or even coach and let them remind you to do the task.

3. Celebrate your wins ,no matter how "small"they seem to be. Also visualizing your consistency helps... Like marking off a to do list etc. You can also motivate yourself with a gift ..."For everytime I engage in this new good behavior,I will gift myself this/that ".

4. Force yourself to do it ..For example,if you want to be more fit and get more movement, pay for a gym membership. Most likely you'll force yourself to go so you won't waste money .

Tips that can be helpful for obsessive behavior :

~Meditation+ deep breathing

~Movement + mindfulness

Getting out of your head and moving your body will do wonders . Focus on the task at hand ,and engage all your five senses.

~Gratitude and letting go

Gratitude is guaranteed to help you immensely in your life , it will bring you more joy ,cultivate more empathy , and possibly facilitate the art of letting go.
This can be done by a simple daily check in,like listing three things your grateful for.

~Replacing old negative obsessive habits with good ones.

For example, if you want to quit smoking knitting ,crochet ,wood carving, gardening can help..Your hand will be busy, your mind calmer ,the repetitive patterns will also be soothing.

Another example, is for mental obsessions/analysis and brooding ,one can learn to code ,do research about a fruitful or interesting topic, play a puzzle or even join a chess club .

~Unleash your creativity

Creativity silences overthinking and let's one flow without restriction. It is the opposite of analysis. Dancing , cooking ,playing an instrument ,painting ,photography engaging in anything really that brings you passion and awakens your creative side will help

~Professional Therapy

Sometimes we do need the help of a professional because they can provide us with new insight or a different perspective. I recommend CBT,REBT,and solution focused therapy more than psychoanalysis as sometimes digging back isn't very helpful ,but try whatever suits you

Part 4:

Consistency,patience,and enjoying the journey.

Enjoy the suns rays kissing your skin as you check on your fruits.

Now, here's where consistency is King. A tough king but a very just and rewarding one.

1. Make sure your goals are small, and basic. Once you cement the foundation you can add larger habits .

2. "A routine will make you serene". A routine will improve ones mental health by predictability, and regulating our nervous system. It'll also help us stick to our new habits .

3. Remember to enjoy the journey because it is just as important as the goal, and it is a part of the transformation.
