There was a pin drop silence in the room. I stood up. Looked around. All eyes were on me. I started stuttering, the book nearly slid off because my palms were that sweaty.
This incident occured during the winter season in Mumbai, but my whole body felt like it was close to a volcanic eruption. I was asked to read aloud infront of the whole class. The sentence went something like; "The cows gives us milk and the cats do not".
My eyes got blurred, but it focused on the important words. I put my pointy finger onto the book and read out loud in confidence: "The cows milk and cats not". My brain skipped a few words and I was so unaware of it. The whole room laughed, the teacher silenced them. I stood in fear because I did not know where I went wrong.
The teacher called me forward infront of 120 student. I saw a wooden stick in her hand from my perphiral vision. I slowly walked up, I knew what was coming. I got close to her and I kept no eye contact. "Hmmm, show me your hand" the teacher insisted. I opened my right sweaty palm and raised...
