So we all know how we consider black cats as 'unlucky' and so we try to avoid them as much as we can. But Pope Gregory IV took it to another level. He considered them 'instruments of Satan' and inorder to save his people he ordered to kill all the cats in his country. That contributed in one way or another to "Black Death" which happened a century later his death, where plaque carrying rats infested the country.
