Chapter 1
SEVEN YEARS LATER.......
She scurried round her room, hurriedly checking each drawer and cupboard for her missing item, her head racing with thoughts of where she last kept it. She checked her watch and realized that they were running late, as though reading her thoughts a voice boomed in her room "EMMA, ANDREW! YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO BE LATE GET DOWN HERE!!!" Emma flinched and checked the time again. "I'LL BE DOWN IN A SECOND! I'M JUST TRYING TO FIND MY HAIR BAND!!" She replied.
As though 'Hair band' was the magic word, as soon as she said it, it clicked to her and her light hazel eyes lit up as she jogged towards the drawer she had left it. She quickly opened it and was met with a piece of paper that had writings on it. Her eyes furrowed in confusion as she tried to pick it up but it seemed to have been stuck to the drawer. She added a little force and it finally came of.
A look of annoyance engulfed her features as the sticky substance attached itself to the tip of her finger. She carefully examined it before sniffing it and then sticking out her tongue to taste it a bit. Bubble Gum. She rolled her eyes and was about to throw the paper away then she spotted the writings:
Dear M&M's I borrowed that band stuff you put on your hair for private reasons. I'll give you back like next year. Oh and your room is in a mess. And don't eat the bubble gum. LOVE ANDREW
Anger flooded her face as she read the letter over and over making sure her eyes were not deceiving her. She crumpled the letter in her hand causing the bubble gum to spread all over the paper and her palm as she began to storm out of her room. I'm going to cut his head off.
"ANDREW!!!" Emma yelled, reaching the door opposite her and using her fist to bang on it. She heard his footsteps and stepped back as the door slowly opened letting out a confused looking Andrew.
His dark, blonde hair scattered all over his face as though he had just woke up, his deep blue eyes held a mixture of tiredness and annoyance. Only his bottom half was clothed with blue jeans causing a plan to form in Emma's still angry head. He was about 6 feet and towered over most people, including her.
He racked his hair with his hand and looked down at Emma and her 5,4 self. "What?" He said his voice painted with confusion and annoyance. "Don't what me! What yourself! Where's my hair band? We're almost late and I need it before we leave." Emma said, executing her plan and slamming the gum-soaked paper against his bare chest. She quickly pulled out a napkin from her jean short's pocket and wiped her hands before folding them and tapping her right foot.
Andrew's Face twisted in confusion before turning into a smug grin as realization hit him. His grin was quickly washed of as he felt a sticky substance sluggishly glide down his chest. He slowly looked down and saw the letter with pink, melted bubble gum all over it stuck to his chest.
"What's wrong with you?" He said shooting daggers at Emma who now was the one holding the satisfied grin. "You did say I shouldn't eat the bubble gum so I'm giving it back to you. Now where's my hair band?" She said again, her mode way more cheery than how she was initially. "Which hair band are you talking about? I know no such thing" He said as he swiftly snatched the napkin from her grip and wiped his chest and hand. She rolled her eyes at him before snatching the napkin back and shooting him another glare. "Produce my band or you're a dead man" She said giving him a dead pan look. "It's a sin to kill" Andrew said smirking down at her. "It's a sin to steal" She retorted back.
"Give and it will come back to you"
"Ask and you shall receive"
"Seek and you shall find"
"Vengeance is of the Lord"
"Do onto others what you want them to do onto you. Now Andrew go wear a Shirt and give Emma back her whatever-she's-looking-for. Emma go get ready, you guys are already late." Andrew and Emma looked down to where the voice came from.
"Come on, why you always on her side?" Andrew questioned the lady with blond pixy hair and the same color of eyes as he had. "Because she's always right" The lady said giving Emma a grin. "Exactly. See, mum gets me. Now where's my hair band" Emma said grinning back.
"But you don't need the hair band! You already look ok with your hair loose. Why are girls so stressy?" Andrew said, rolling his eyes and still trying to defend himself. "First of all, 'stressy' isn't a word, and have you seen my hair." Emma said, gesturing at the long mop of abnormally long, brown hair that cascaded down her body.
"What do you even need it for?" She asked getting annoyed all over again. "My hair, duh." Andrew said flicking an imaginary hair off his shoulders and faking an offended look. Emma shook her head and rolled her eyes, not finding it amusing at all.
"You delusional buffoon. Just please give it to me so we can get going." She said, stretching the word 'please' as though someone was forcing her to say it. Andrew widened his mouth and covered it with his right hand while sticking his left hand into his pocket and pulling out a black and red hair band.
"Oh! There it is! I honestly had no clue!" He handed her the hair band and wiped an imaginary tear from his cheeks before, turning his face away with a dramatic look plastered on it, and the back of his hand to his forehead as though exasperated
. "Drama Queen" She said as she began to walk back to her room "Don't speak to me anymore" Andrew replied once more in a feminine voice. A smile of triumph played on her lips as she shook her head at his act. Wow God, you truly blessed me with such a unique family.
She quickly tied the oh-so-precious, hair band round her hair as she arrived at her room, it still didn't help to reduce the weight of her curly dark brown her that stopped just centimeters above her lower back.
She adjusted her jean shorts and put on a belt as she walked over to her cupboard, then grabbed her huge grey hoodie that had the words "LOL" Written with red at the back and slipped it on. She quickly kicked off her flip-flops and sat on the edge of her bed, wearing her black high tops and adjusting the shoelace.
She stood up and walked over to the mirror, once again adjusting her hair and then applied cherry chapstick on her already fairly moist lips, she put on some blush, wore her long amulet that had a dove imprinted on it and grabbed her phone from the mirror stand before walking out her room and grabbing her black side bag on her way out.
Emma hammered on Andrews's door once again, getting tired of waiting for him, "I'm ready! Let's go!" The door slung open and Andrew came out wearing the same jeans as earlier, with a loose grey shirt and a golden chain with a cross dangling at the end. He held some books in his right hand and his left hand was in his pocket. "Vámonos!." He said, jogging down the stairs as though he had been the one waiting for Emma and causing her to roll her eyes at him for what seemed like the millionth time.
Emma followed suit, jogging down after him and were met with an angry looking Mrs. Davids. "You're going to be late" She said shaking her heads at both of them. "Don't worry mum we haven't missed any classes." Andrew said giving her a peck on the cheek on his way out as he grabbed an apple. "Love you" He said as he paused at the door to look back at her. "I love you to Darling. Now go before you miss anymore hours" She said playfully shooing him away with her hands.
"He's right mum, we haven't missed a thing." Emma said hugging her and giving her another peck on her cheek. "Yeah, Yeah. Bye Sweetheart" Her mum replied, hugging her back and also shooing her away towards the door. Emma giggled and blew her an air kiss before closing the door behind her and catching up with Andrew.
