A Woman a Man and the Snow
#WritcoStoryPrompt28

Wide, frightened eyes took in the casual gait of the man walking towards her. Cold beads of sweat broke out across her forehead. It couldn't be him, could it?

He had left her for dead ages ago. Alone in the snow, his name never leaving her lips and she had cried for help "Joseph!! Please, Joseph!! I'm sorry!!"

Those days seemed like a dream, but now, seeing him back infront of her, it all came back like it was yesterday. His walk that once tracked through the snow, now made their way back to her. As if he hadn't purposefully forgotten her years ago.

"Eliza" His cold, monotone voice addresses her like a policeman would address a troublesome inmate. "Its been a long time... Hasn't it?" He smirks.

"Not long enough" Eliza spit at the man "I would have rather died back there in the snow than ever see your face again"

"Aw, now what kind of welcome back is that for your king?" He coos, moving closer to her and stroking her strawberry blonde hair.

Eliza smacks his hand away and grits her teeth "You were never my 'king' and never will be! You're a sick excuse for a human!"

Joeseph sighs and steps back from the woman. "I see, still as rebellious as always. It's such a shame because... There's nothing you can do now. I won. Even I you didn't die back there, turns out, you were never the problem"

"What the hell are you talking about!? My kingdom will never fall subject to the likes of you" Eliza growls and reaches to her hip to grab her sword. To her surprise, the holster was empty "Shit..."

"Hm, is that so? Well why don't we return and see, huh? Because I think I convinced them pretty well" Joseph grins and leans into Eliza's ear to whisper "Your fucking little kingdom has fallen princess... You have no power here anymore. I. Am. Your. King."
