The New Employee
Click. I shift my eyes to the clock, it's 1:39. My body starts to feel anxious, will I be late? Click. It's 1:40, the college bell goes off, all my focus switches to the door. Grabbing hold of my phone and bag, I make a sprint for the door -so do the others in my class. Everyone is rushing through the corridors like a swarm of bees. I can't be late, I can’t be late, I repeat to myself. I dash through the hallways-that feel endless-trying to avoid hitting into people. “Sorry!”I say as I knock into someone’s shoulder.I bolt through many crowds and then I see the exit. But all of a sudden, huge groups of people bunch at the entrance. I dart towards the door (it’s only metres away from me) squishing through people. Then I feel the fresh breeze across my face. I did it! Now I must get home.
Breathing rapidly, I check my phone, it's 1:46. My house is only 10 minutes away from my college but I still can't waste any time. The grip tightens on my phone and bag and I dart along the road and onto the path. A blow of cold air brushes my face, making my face turn a light pink. My fingertips are turning pink and I huff and puff quickly. After turning left and right down the streets, I'm finally home! I unlock the door to my house, scurry inside and toss my bag on the floor. Snatching my shoulder bag, I shove my purse, phone and train ticket into it. Looking into the mirror, I swiftly redo my hair...
