sharing tiny blankets
and of course,
like any other story we've watched from the big screen,
there are two people who've been sharing tiny blankets
for two years, with all their jokes, and ups and downs.

they kiss,
they cry, they fight,
and make love after church,
losing energy to people who refuse to accept them.

"cupid must have lost his mind for pairing you off..."
they're all clashing 'cause they patronize the idea 'bout
a fifteen-year-old girl who can't marry a boy in twenty.

like eric and ariel,
like romeo and juliet,
their story's forbidden in the garden of eden,
but they keep their relationship in private otherwise.

they went up the hill,
built a wooden house, a beautiful farm,
two lovely kids and live perfect family, almost
like what you've watched on social media.

for seventeen years,
they counted their blessings, schooled their children,
left laundry on the sofa, watched tv on sundays,
went to church, and forgot society's expectations.

in order to raise their growing children,
both had to find money; they worked together, alone.
and they spend time with their workmates.

one wakes up to send their children to school
before going to work, while the other one just
gets home to snooze.

their clocks walk in reverse.

it was then that the mother of two
smelled like wine and wear someone else's scent
saying, "i was only fifteen when i found you,"
while tears were dripping down her face.

and her man, who's 37 now,
realized that he wasn't living his dream,
'cause he wanted to be a great novelist,
publish at least five bestselling books before thirty.
he wished to travel the world and eat ramen, adobo,
and crème brulee, but he found himself stuck in beer and peanuts.

and of course,
like any other story we've watched from the big screen,
there are two people who've been sharing tiny blankets
for nineteen years, with all their puns, ups and downs,

and later realized that sometimes love is not enough.
