It's Pride !!!
Okay , first things first , if you won't read this just please don't like the post , because the level of hypocrisy that you will then cross is insurmountable .
This post was necessary , because the pride month is coming to an end and I still haven't posted anything related to it ! Like how can I be so insensitive .
Secondly , this write-up has been there in my journal for a while and it was bursting to come out ( pun unintended ) . So , we shall begin .
A few months I re-read Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz . My main motive to read it the second time was I wasn't able to savour the entire book , because I didn't completely agree with what the writer wrote , the first time I read it.
So , it goes around two boys Ari and Dante , who start with beings friends , filling in the role of a confidante , best friend and eventually being each other's first love ( in love ) . It also is their journey through teenage years , trying to discover who they are and unravel the secrets that surround them .
Yes , it is a book which showcases two boys kissing and falling in love with the right person . There was a scene , which had a deep impact on me . One day Dante was kissing a boy in the alleyway , when some boys accidentally saw them . Enraged , they bet Dante to pulp . Why ? Well , because Dante was kissing a boy .Yes , that was the problem . I really don't see why , but it was . Dante suffered cracks to his ribs , blackened eyes and had to stay in the hospital for 4 days . Ari just replied , " There are worse things in this world than boys kissing boys . " I agree with him wholeheartedly .
Next , let's talk of my favourite book series ( apart from Harry Potter written by Rita Skeeter because JKR is a prick ) Carry On by Rainbow Rowell . It's about two enemies turned lovers . Look at the artwork , the one with the wings is Simon , the other one is Basilton . They are one of the most beautiful couples that I've ever had the chance of being acquainted with and Basilton is gay but Simon still struggles with his sexuality .
