♠♣
I sat up on my bed hearing a strange voice call out my name,it was sharp like whispers for my ears alone. The cold air blended well with my dark room.

A slight knock on the door caught my attention making me jump up in fright. I walked over to the door; opening it to see whoever was knocking,I was meet with nothing but air . Another knock came again, I turned walking to the direction with haste, by a picture frame but then it stopped.

A black man stood by my back as I turned to scour the dark hollow, he held a butchers knife next to my bed. A wave of fear took me while he stood. His face was completely blank, my brown irises were popping out. His shadow–like face stared at me, and I stared back. I just realized I have zero chances of escaping.

“Amara!” I heard someone call my name out of the blue.

“Amara!” they called again,
shaking me roughly then a vivid light came into view, making me open my sore eyes to an energetic girl. She flapped her virgin hair; staring deep into me with a wild look.

“why were you shouting?”She asked“and your sweating”

“ I wasn't shouting” I said getting up from bed and wipping the moist off my face.

My head was paining me as I stood. Great I have a headache now. Moving over to my cupboard,I took out some Panadol; opening the pack, placing the white tablets in my hand and then moving to the kitchen; taking out a plastic cup, I mix but cold and hot water from the dispensar to drink.

“have mom gone out” I asked her seeing as she had gotten dressed in her black flaw folded skirt and blue lilac blouse, the only thing missing was her white knee socks and blue–strip tie. I glanced at the living room clock, seeing it was six fifty–seven and the distance from here to her school is a thirty minutes journey.

“Ema, you'll be late for school if you don't hurry” I informed the fourteen year—old which right now, I just realized doesn't care.

“I know, and yes mummy has gone out” she said sitting down at the dinner. She drafts her bag and things on the chair next to her.

Just like every other day, our mother leaves for her early morning mass then comes back home to her usual housewife duties.

Walking into the kitchen, taking out some sweet potatoes; peeling and slicing it into small shapes,to be fried and reheating the leftover stew from last night which will eat for breakfast.

Its been nine years since Ellas’ death, things had changed. Dad had gotten a promotion at work which resulted to us moving, mom had stopped working and had decided to dedicate her time in church, Diema was now in ss1 with her annoying features, surprisingly, she's more reasonable the me.sometimes

I on the other hand, had finished secondary school and I'm waiting for an admission into a nice University.

The last sweet potatoe had turned light brown in the heating pan, making me scup it with the spatula and place it on the seiving bin. Allowing it to cool; I place two plaits and draft our breakfast on them, before calling Diema to take hers'.

She intentionally walks sluggish taking her breakfast in hand, placing it on the dinning to eat.

“eat fast” I said stuffing the potatoes down her throat. She won't get punished at school for her late coming, cause she's a first class graduate at lying. but at home mother would pinpoint me on her gossip list while father will whoop the living dead out of me if I'm ever tardy or made my sister go late.

Now it was seven–fifteen, fifteen minutes to spear before assembly and roll call.Without bothering if she had finished her breakfast I grab her bag and she takes her tie, making a very terrible attempt on knotting it. And she hadn't even woren her soaks and shoes.ugh.This child
