Let outside again
#WritcoStoryPrompt26
“Isn’t this exciting?” My best friend’s excited eyes flit around the dazzling stores on the main street.
“I suppose so.”
My unenthusiastic reply had her turning to me with a frown. “What’s the matter? Aren’t you happy to be out shopping after so many months?”
I shook my head feeling miserable. I could feel the panic rise up so I pretended to search my pockets for my sanitizer. When I found it I poured it liberally over my hands and rubbed them together. There was no room for error, the virus was still around...
No one were to talk of it again but everyone knew. It was there, waiting to get it's next victim. Nights were wasted watching the news while the day was spent using the time they could to get shopping in before everything was shut down again. It was truly terrifying.
