Worth the wait.
Stepping on the muddy floor in the heavy rain in pursuit of the only man she ever loved, she wrapped her arms around his left leg wanting never to let go. Crying in bitter agony, desperately asking for another chance to make things right to him, he stood like a statue under the falling rain without a blink, neither did he move a muscle.
I stood by the corner of the corridor watching from a distance the desperation of my mother, I felt her anguished pain. She fervently cried, but father seemed redundant about this, all he did was to give her a deaf ear.

Vigorously, he shook his leg out of her hands falling her to the ground. Her tears knew no end as she watched the footsteps of the only man she loved vanish in the water which poured down from the sky as he left. For some reason, she hoped he returned.

Months passed and years disappeared like the chaff in the wind, but her faith was unending. I was five years of age, and I couldn't bear to watch my mother in such aggravated grief. My only wish was to let her see how happy and proud I was of her strength.
Apparently, she recovered and moved on with no husband / life partner. She toiled tirelessly in order to make an earnest living. Everything was almost back to normal, the way it once was, unexpectant of anything contrary to happiness. Until the tides turned on a cold winter Saturday's night.

The crystal clear snow could be seen falling across the window and the crescendo of the jingling bells was fantastic. Several families were out to get Christmas trees, and the lights which lit up the whole area blossomed in Christmas eve's glory.
Mum was in the kitchen making some soup and I sat at the fire place watching the happiness of others from the transparent window.
Just when the evening bliss was on, I heard a knock at the door. This was strange because we've never had visitors since dad's departure. The door was knocked unabatedly as I approached the door cautiously, scared and terrified.

There I was, holding on to the door handle as the door wasn't hit for a while. Finally, I gained the courage in opening the door and I was totally surprised. I wished to have seen a shadow, but what I saw was way more than my expectations.
I stood like a rock, I couldn't move, and just when I was about to say a word I heard a voice behind me.

" Ted!! " Exclaiming in absolute shock and surprise.

Turning my head behind was my mother, and right in from of me was the man that let her go and treated her like an unworthy human being

"Dad".
