A Reason to Write
It’s funny how sharing your own story brings out things others have also experienced in one way or another. The scars we try to hide, the wounds we try to ignore, the hurts and pains we try to demolish in our own minds. All gets brought to the surface of thought by words, written or spoken, by strangers we have never met in life.

The inner feelings and emotions that come from the past shape us in so many ways. The hurts can cause us to learn helplessness. Wanting to live in a shell, where our emotions never connect to anyone who can hurt us in the same ways again.

The stubbornness first evolves in the rebellion against repeating the past. Choosing to live in a shell to keep distance from others to avoid dealing with the pain.

But, yet, words from others can bring it all back again. The processes of healing don’t come overnight. It, oftentimes, takes a lifetime, if we learn to overcome. There are many struggles to walk through over the course of time.

Trying to motivate oneself to let it all go and start new is a struggle all its own. In life, there is always something to bring it all back again. The only thing that changes is our ability to cope.

The thinking processes are a struggle in learning to view the past in different lights. But, yet, it is what brings the actions for change. With different actions, there are different results. For one, fears begin to fade.

Relationships become a struggle. It’s the fear of the unknown we tend to shy away from. But, yet, not being willing to explore and try anyway just blocks the healing. Experiencing the good in life doesn’t happen by shying away. Willingness is important to the process.

Writing my story, even in bits and pieces, has been a way to begin to heal. Wounds become less when shared. Like screaming out for attention to bring awareness to the lost in life. Upholding the right to tell is a release from untreated wounds.

With each step of the writing process, willingness continues to grow. I’m not what others painted me to be. There’s a good side too!
