Love, Divorce and Everything else
Chapter 30: The Last Chance
Ryan carefully carried Myra in a wheelchair and helped her and her parents into his car. He drove them home. He was quite happy he didn't have a family for a long time. They talked and laughed throughout the way. Once they reached Myra's parents' house, Ryan picked up Myra in his arms and carried her inside while Myra couldn't stop giggling at him. Ryan asked, 'Hey, what is wrong?' Myra giggled and said, 'Well, it feels like we just got married, and you are carrying me home.' They all started laughing. Ryan tucked Myra in her bed, made sure she was comfortable, and kissed her gently. He said, 'Rest, my love. We will need all the strength in the next few days. After all, we have a battle coming up.' Myra fell asleep while talking to Ryan. Ryan slowly got up, left the room, and closed the door. Cynthia offered Ryan to stay for some coffee, but he politely declined. He said, 'You two should rest as well. You must be exhausted. I'll take my leave now, but I might come back to spend some time with you all in the evening? If that's okay. Cynthia gave Ryan a hug and said, 'My dear son, think of it as your own house; come whenever you like.' Ryan said goodbye to Cynthia and drove away. He then stopped the car a few miles away, took out his phone, and called Jack. Before he could say anything, Jack picked up the call and said, 'I knew you would call; I was waiting. What took you so long? Too busy cozying up to my ex-wife, were you?' Ryan wanted to say a lot, but he controlled himself and said, 'You and I need to meet, and bring that mother of yours along.' Jack replied, 'How dare you talk to me like that? And how dare you disrespect my mother? She happens to be your aunt.' Ryan retorted, 'No, I am not related to blood-sucking leeches like your family.' It's 1 PM right now. I want both of you here by 4 PM, or else.' Jack questioned, 'Or else? Or else what? How dare you order me, you ungrateful orphan? Don't forget your place. Have you forgotten the days of eating leftovers and wearing my old clothes?' Ryan replied, 'I never forgot, and then there is always you and your mother who constantly remind me of that and make sure I never forget. But you are still living in the past. Now I am a millionaire with a booming business, and you and your parents have days ahead where you would have to beg to survive. Jack: Oh, you would like that, wouldn't you? But let me tell you, that will never happen. You just wait and watch how I will turn your life around. First, I will take away that woman who dared stand against me. Then slowly, I will break her to the point that she will literally beg for mercy or probably kill herself. Then mom will make sure to handle the kid until we get everything we deserve. And as for you, I will burn down each and every farm you have. I have people who would do anything for me, or maybe that's where I would start from. Because once you have no money, I don't think that woman would be interested in you anyway because she needs money to survive. She is like a bee. Ryan: Her name is Myra. You respectfully call her by her name. I am not interested in your threats. Because when it comes to that, I might not have people, but I have money to buy people and make all three of you disappear forever. But that's not me, and for the last time, without wasting any more of my time, you can consider this a threat. If you two are not here by 4 PM, you will be responsible for any consequences. And I can assure you now, your days of begging on the streets will come sooner than you would expect. So think about it. I will be expecting to see you both at 4 PM at the Midair Cafe, and I will text you the address. Jack: We are not coming. You can't do anything. Ryan: Trust me, Jack, I could do a lot. Don't take this lightly. What you pulled today, after that, I am giving you a chance to live and another opportunity. And I am doing that not for you, or that we are related, or I have a big heart. I am simply doing this because I want to give you two one last chance.Because what I would do after that and what I would continue doing after that would be without any mercy. Jack: What are you talking about? Oh, you are upset because I went to see her? What did she say? Did she say she enjoyed my touch? I could still see on her face that she was pretending, but she liked me getting close to her. I could see it on her face. Ryan: It seems this is the end to this conversation and no further chances for you. Take a deep breath and make sure to remember this moment, Jack, because you are at the beginning of regretting this moment for the rest of your life. Jack: Shut up, Ryan. I don't care. You are just scared of losing and you are trying to threaten me. Mom was right to treat you like that. Actually, you deserved worse. I don't need your chances. Stop talking nonsense. Our lawyers have a rock-solid case and they will burn you and that woman down to the ground. Actually, you two deserve each other, surviving on other people. She stole my uncle's money from us. I don't know what she did to get that, probably the same thing she did to get in your head. You are the one who will regret everything because you don't know her the way I do. She would probably do anything to not give up the money, and we won't let her get a single penny. Ryan: I pity you for talking so badly about the woman you once loved and the mother of your child. It just shows who you are, but yes, we do deserve each other, that is how it should be because it's love. Anyways, don't tell Margaret I called so she knows you had a chance and you blew it. As far as your lawyers are concerned, you know who I am. I am going to tear apart everything they throw at me, and you know it, you have no chance, so do what you want. Jack: Huh, I am not scared of you, only will tell now, it's just a week away and we will know. So better wait and see how I suck out everything, every penny from her. Ryan: Yes, we will see that. Goodbye, Jack. Jack: Goodbye, orphan boy, see you in court.
