An Innocent Man's Mission
Chapter One:

A cool, airy, breeze gently tickles my legs and up my back, waking me from my nap.
I roll onto my side and slowly open my eyes.
It's pouring outside. The wind picks up making the white lacey drapes reach out toward my feet like two ghostly arms. The window is only slightly open, so they reach out in vane.
Trial today. Twelve people selected from my city will sit through hours, maybe even days, of deliberation and legal debates to decide my fate. I remember a tattoo on another inmate that read, " Rather be carried by six, then be judged by one!" Up til now I thought I understood well what that meant. But today, today I feel it's true meaning.
I remember what I dreamt about; I was climbing a paper ladder over a seawall over the ocean. A giant minotaur slept below my paper ladder and under the sea, and I was desperate not to wake him for fear of falling to my death. Or was it fear of waking that gave me the anxiety?
As I stepped over the bathtubs edge into the hot shower, a deep sigh exits lips. It's warm embrace hugging me tightly and giving me a moment of comfort. It passes though, regretfully, as the later days event breaks and enters my head once again. Then, a groan of tedium erupts, as genuine anxiety kicks back in.
