The Ancient Forest: Part-3
As the morning arrived, Drake continued his training with Runa and his fellow warriors. A scout from the Guardian's of Hakon reported to Runa, informing her of another Ork raiding party attacking a nearby settlement. Drake awaited for his orders,as many troops rallied to the cry of the villagers. Runa gathered her new soldiers eagered to put their training to the test. She would deliver a powerful speech, as they headed into battle.
Upon entering the settlement on foot, screams throughout the settlement could be heard by the Ivorborin. Drake was ordered along with two others to gather and protect the settlers from the pig-folk. One-by-one was gathered and taken to Runa and her soldiers, while a detachment of soldiers were fending off the Ork assault. Spiked clubs tore through the armor of an elven soldier, till he fell to the ground with little to no armor.A arrow found it's mark in the ork's shoulder, but he did not waver.Drake defended the wounded mer and provided him a chance to escape, while he engaged the enemy.
As Ork,elf, and man battle, the pig children sought to set the settlement ablaze, as the Elven forces were distracted by their assault force. Drake fended of the beast well, but not well enough, as the settlement was soon engulfed in flame.The Orkish brute pushed drake back with it's punishing strength, despite having suffered several strikes from the elven blade of the young warrior. Runa ordered her mer to retreat, as most of the settlement had been gathered and the raiding party began to retreat as well. A great flame began to engulf the fairies home, but was extinguished by the winged-maiden of the settlement.
By waving her staff to the sky, the rain fell down from the realm above. With the destruction of their home at the hands of the orks, the fairies were taken to the capitol by Runa and her soldiers. Having returned to the fort, Runa debriefed her soldiers on dealing with the orks. She was proud of them for following her orders and protecting the fairies, but was furious that the village was burned.Leaving them with a report of another mission due the next morn, she informed them to continue their training and get plenty of rest.
Before he could rest his wound, Drake was summoned by the Fairy Matron.
