The Perfect Cover.
It was the perfect cover. Edith had been needing Eddie’s company to help her with her anxiety issues at first. So after her holiday away with her finance Richie, she was still feeling abit uneasy during each evening as Richie had started back in night shifts again. The fact that Richie was working nearer to home didn’t seem to make any difference, as Edith was still feeling quite anxious at times and still feeling quite uneasy about being alone at night and not having a man around each night, as she’d mentioned to Richie, as he was about to begin his new night shift patterns.
So Eddie started going round night after night for a few hours each evening making sure that Edith was feeling at ease, very comfortable and safe, calming her anxiety issues in his own sweet way.
Eddie and Richie had been friends for a couple of years now and they met when Richie use to work with Eddie, at Richie’s old job. So Richie had no issue with Eddie visiting Edith each night, while he was he was on his night shift, for hours in end, until the early morning.
Edith and Eddie, had a close connection and speak with each other, about many things. Edith had often mentioned to Layla a friend of hers, of how she had a close connection with Eddie and how he had a way of calming her down when she felt so anxious. Layla recalled a passing comment made by Edith to her, regarding Eddie a few months previously. “Eddie is really good at making me feel much better, he has a calming way with him.” Edith had said. Layla, would soon come to understand the meaning of the passing comment from Edith, many months later.
Since Richie needed to sleep during the day, as he was back on his night shifts again. Edith was finding it a bit difficult to relax and get on with things during the daytime, anxiously concerned each time that she’d wake Richie up. This situation seemed to raise her anxiety issues in some way so by the time the evening came, she was feeling much freer in herself and relaxed, due to the calming vibes from Eddie that he would give out to her, each evening in his own sweet way.
This was bringing them even closer together, each time Eddie would visit Edith.
Layla, thought back to an online message that she’d received from Edith a few years before. When Edith was still with Nyle her previous partener, the one before Richie, at least nearly three years previously. The message to Layla was along the lines of, “I’m in love and we just clicked. It’s still very early days, but we are living together now and Nyle doesn’t know.” Edith had moved out of the house that she had set up with Nyle a year or so before, but due to a bit of a breakdown in the relationship for Edith, she moved of the house that she shared with Nyle, then began to live back with her parents for a while. Then suddenly moved in with Richie at his mum’s house, for a while.
Layla was quite surprised, about the separation and the fact that Edith’s relationship with Nyle, was in a stage of separation. As they appeared to be a nice couple together.
So the sudden shock of the message that Edith had sent her, had hit Layla completely off guard. As Edith’s message had stated that she was, completely I love with a guy named Richie., whom she’d been dating for a few months now.
Then within six months of Layla receiving the message to her phone from Edith, Nyle moved out of their home and went to live with his mum, as a temporary measure.
In the meantime, Edith moved back
into their home, but she wasn’t on her own as her new boyfriend Richie, had moved in with her.
It would be about a year and a half down the line, after they’d been together when Richie would purpose to Edith and Edith would accepted.
Layla when thinking back to all of these happenings, over the previous five years, began to wonder. Wonder if there
wasn’t some kind of pattern forming, with Edith’s young love life. As human beings we all need those needs met, when we are missing something from our lives, as it’s only human nature, to be needed and to feel wanted by others to.
Layla, tried not to think to much about this situation that was filling up an area of her mind. Then Layla suddenly thought to herself, “what a perfect cover, for an ongoing affair.” If it was an affair, it was cleverly and cunningly put together.
If the Eddie’s car was there again the next night visiting for a while, then Layla would feel even more convinced about there being something going on between Edith and Eddie. Layla thought to herself, as she watched Eddie’s car drive away from Edith’s house that evening,
“I hope i’m wrong, but only time will tell.”
