some dreams come true
#WritcoStoryPrompt75
He fell for her the moment he saw her at the platform. There she was, a little plumpy but so pretty. The video calls didn't do her justice. She was much cuter than the photographs.
To add it all... he felt a deep connect with her. "Yupp she is the one", came a tiny voice from his inner being. He had told his grandmother, I might get me a bride this trip, just pray to God to bless us. He saw his grandmother's toothless laugh blessing him.
She met him with a shy smile. He was a little hesitant as well. They went and booked a room at a hotel near her friend's place, for he wanted to maintain respect. This was one of the main reasons they liked each other, each had a high respect for their families.
Next morning he went to collect her at her friend's place and off they went to the venue. He had practised well and long into the nights. She had heard him and was sure he would be selected. The competition venue was a reputed hotel in the city. They reached the hotel and went to the auditorium. They found the main desk and filled up his form. This was the easiest thing of the day.
Then began the tedious task of waiting. They were given a token and were surrounded by the competing fellow participants. It was her idea that he should try his luck in the competition. He was a little nervous. But she held his hand through the day.
The other participants seemed all well prepared. Some had come with guitars, harmonium and what not. Some were outright out of tune bathroom singers, just come to enjoy the moment. He was surprised at their audacity but also tried to imbibe their spirit of fun in life.
His turn came soon after lunch. She wished him luck and her smile and radiant eyes filled his heart with hope. He went in chanting his God's name. He stood in the center of the stage. The judges were moody. There had been a string of those very bathroom singers before him and the judges were a bit annoyed as well. So they asked him his name and soon he was asked to start his singing. He closed his eyes and started by imaging her face in front. He sang only for her. And he sang if ever he were to lose her now, how he would break into a thousand pieces and he would not be able to breathe, not want to live a second without her. He suddenly heard the buzzer. He opened his wet tearful eyes. All was blurred, but he heard the claps of judges as well as the crew members..!!
He was selected and invited to enter the show to be aired soon on Television. He had been given the special certificate to enter the show directly. He came out and kissed her right there in front of everyone. Soon they realised their folly and she said the sweetest thing, "Iam hungry".. he burst into a laughter. He loved her simplicity and practicality.
They went out to the best restaurant for a grand celebration. At night they were strolling at the lake, when in the full moon, he got down on his knee and proposed to her. She said "yes.."
Tonight his biggest dreams had come true. He knew life won't be easy forever but he will not be alone in the sad times.
