The Curse Of Caste
Inspired By A True Story Of Fatima Haba.

I was in my early teens when I first realised that there were a number of unmarried women in our family, belonging to all age groups. Due to family restrictions, finding a match for girls was extremely difficult. For this reason, many of my cousins’ husbands were a complete mismatch. To make matters worse, most of my male cousins preferred marrying outside their caste as the men have no such restrictions.

During my studies, I met a boy
He was noble and decent, he used to live in a rich family but he was not proud of anything.
He came to our house to ask for my hand as Sharia.

But My Parents left all the qualities of that boy and asked him about the caste,And because of their different caste, they denied him.Even my grandmother said that she will marry me to a dog but not to him.

And when they came to know that I liked her, they hurried on my marriage,They married me to a boy 14 years older than me.
He whom I married also considered me fallen,
He used to raise his hands on me.I oppose it and tell my mother and she pleased to my father to do something about this but they denied.

I had no way left,I started to lose my faith in Islam.
The Islam that I had read had become weak in front of the rituals of these world.
The friends whom I used to tell about the unity and soft heart of Islam, today They ask me questions.

I prayed that Allah may hear me and protect me from these daily tortures.
And then one day my husband died in an accident.
The beating on me stopped but now I had no support,
His mother thought he killed because of me.
And one day she shot me too. a loud bang, followed by extreme pain in my chest.

This was my last time, there was smile on face just because I get free from these daily deaths,And there were some tears in my eyes that told that maybe my life would have been better.
