The man who shaked the sphere
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances."

Who do you remember now??

Yeah, that's William Shakespeare, the greatest!!

Shakespeare was the greatest ever playwright, poet, actor. He was best known for writing hugely successful theatre plays.

Shakespeare and we all have a common thing.
Like us, he had been in a pandemic period. During his times, Plague was blasting out in England. He even lost his elder siblings to the dreary Plague. This disease had brought out new stuff from him. Due to Plague, once theatres were closed. And plays were not played as planned. His plan A of survival was failed. What was his plan B? What did he do then??

He then turned out to poetry. He wrote many sonnets and poems. His first poem was Venus and Adonis. He dedicated this to Earl of Southampton who was one of his patrons.

"Good friend for Jesus’ sake forbear,
To dig the dust enclosed here.
Blessed be the man that spares these stones,
And cursed be he that moves my bones."

It's a curse written by the wordsmith himself on his gravestone. So till today no one has visited his grave. It remains haunted and untouched.

Do you know the connection between moon and this man?

Some moons were named after Shakespeare's characters.
The moons circling around the planet of Uranus are mostly named after characters from Shakespeare plays, including Oberon, Ariel, and Juliet.

Shakespeare had command over an extremely large vocabulary and used around 30,000 different words in his plays and created 2000 new words used till today.

We say a lot of things today that Shakespeare himself coined. Some of the most notable phrases:

The empty vessel makes the loudest sound.

All that glitters is not gold.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.

To do a great right, Do a little wrong.

When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.

What's done can't be undone.

Ignorance is the curse of God; Knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.

How far that little candle throw its beams! So shines a good deed in a naughty world.
