POWER OF SELF BELIEF
Batula was born as perfectly normal child.but at the age of 19 months,she contracted meningitis which rendered her as both deaf and blind.You can only comprehend the shock and the pain she went through when her life was turned upside down.
But through the sheer will of character and unshakeable faith in her abilities,she turned her life around inspite of the hopelessness of her condition she set herself a goal of learning how to speak and write recall that a person who is deaf can only express herself through sign language but if one is both deaf and blind the situation become more complicated.
So for Batula all the avenues available for personal development appeared permanently closed,she had no hope of achieving anything in life her life had become permanently gripped by pain,glooms and tears she had no hope of expressing her deep feelings of love, emphaty and joy but did she take this monumental challenge lying down? the answer is no.
The double tragedy that had become her life did not break her spirit she still possessed a deep conviction that she could make it in life.She was convinced that if she tried hard enough a time would come when she will learn how to speak.So great was her determination that she always sandwiched herself between two people who were engaged in conversation.And using her fingers she could touch the lips of the person speaking,feels it's movement and from it attempt to infer what the person was speaking about.it was a practice which requires a great patience, diligence and determination.At first it was very hard to decipher any meaning from the movement of lips.But she never gave up on her quest to learn how to speak like a normal human being.
Gradually her effort started paying off she also began moving her lips in the imitation of people close to her.it was difficult at first but she forged on regardless and through frequent practice coupled with enormous determination, Batula made her history by becoming the first deaf and blind person to learn how to speak she went on to become a great motivational speaker delivering her lectures in many part of the world as that was not enough she also wrote more than 12 best selling books.She finally proves that disability is not inability
