Fragile lives!!!
Their lives are on the verge of extinction. No one can provide them an hope on life. The basic necessities are denied to them. I want to shed some light on the problems faced by migrant labour due to the pandemic. Indian workforce is 90% dominated by unorganised sector. The downfall of economic activities had hit them hard. Most of them are facing difficulties in returning to their homes. Most of them are walking for hundreds of kilometres.
The recent incident where 16 migrant labours died when a train ran over them while sleeping on tracks was pathetic.
The decision taken by state government to amend the labour laws was against the welfare of labour and it is also infringing their fundamental rights(raising the working hours from 8 to 12). States are trying to revive the economy, it's good, but it shouldnot be at the cost of abrogating the rights of labour. Labour forms a backbone of manufacturing sector, so their interests have to be taken into account while amending rules.
