Golden Chocolates

He fell for her the moment he saw her at the _________. Fill in the blank and create a story.”

He fell for her the moment he saw her at the stage.
She had been her friend for a long time, she confided in him, she shared her interests with him, she cared for him, she comforted him, she supported him and it would be impossible to believe they would ever be separated.

Leah had told Sam about her dream of becoming a singer when they were 9. They met in their choir classes, and she had told him: “Choir is for sparrows. I want to be a lion and sing alone.” They had laughed at the silly metaphor, even Leah getting embarrassed at the overconfident remark.

At age 12, Leah had started to take her passion for singing seriously. She took voice lessons but, admittedly (and it was Sam who had said it first), she was self-teaching herself better than a room of professionals could.

At age 15, they had vowed to each other to never leave the other’s side. What had exactly happened:
Leah and Sam were chatting about what food they would want to eat when they became very rich.
“Golden chocolate sounds nice, I wish I would be able to share it with you,” Sam had said.
“What do you mean ‘would be able to’?” Leah had gotten suddenly scared their friendship would end soon. She had even thought this was some sort of friendship-break-up line.
“Let’s do something,” Sam had decided.
“What?”
“Take a vow.”
Sam tried to made a serious expression, but Leah pulled his cheek and said, “Oh, you don’t look good like that.” She smiled. “Anyways, what was that vow?”
“Say, ‘I shall never leave my best friend ever. I shall share my golden chocolate with him and be with him for the rest of my life and afterlife.’”
Leah had jokingly repeated the lines. Sam also vowed, just changing the “him” with “her”.
“You know something?” Sam had said after they took the Vow. “I was just worried you’d damage your vocal cords if you ate golden chocolate. Ha-ha, gotcha at vowing!”
That was precisely when she had said, “You lovely idiot,” and kissed him warmly on the cheek.

The “Vow” had become a running joke in their relationship, but as they aged and they started to stress and their life got busier, both of them couldn’t help remember their teen selves joking about that and smiling thinking about it. The Vow was something more than just a joke now.

At 21, as Leah sang her single “Shower You With Golden Chocolates” (Yes, she had gotten the inspiration from her and Sam’s friendship), Sam couldn’t help feel dazzled by how she could make such a silly phrase into such a beautiful and sentimental song.
Her short black hair, her long silver dress, her sparkling gloves and sandals, her imperfect yet pretty face and her reflecting blue eyes were beautiful. Most importantly, her determination was the most attractive thing.
The spotlight fell onto her. Sam could not help falling for her.
