Love, Divorce and Everything else
Chapter 21: The Plan

Ryan was so angry that his face started turning red. He couldn't bear looking at Margaret as it was just fueling the fire of his anger that he had hidden since his childhood, along with the image of Myra at the hospital bed trying to recover. He tried to control himself and moved away from Margaret who was still speechless. But then suddenly he felt someone approaching him, and it was Jack. He screamed, 'How dare you, Ryan!' and tried to throw a punch at him. However, Ryan grabbed his hand on time, looked him in the eyes, and said, 'I wouldn't dare do that if I were you. At least, you gained the courage to stand against a man this time rather than hurting innocent women on your mother's instructions. I pity you, cousin, for losing two wonderful wives who loved you just because your mother's greed has no end. Myra's fate was set by your mother even before you said 'I do' because Kathy was chosen to be married to you as part of a business deal between your parents, your uncle, and Kathy's father. But you, and you alone, are responsible. The rest, you stand alone, Jack, with no wives, no children by your side, just your mother. And you still don't get it. Jack: shut up, Ryan. You don't know anything, and you better stay away from Myra and Kathy. Then he walked out of the room. Ryan then turned towards Margaret and said, "Good, you are lawyered up. You are going to need each one of them, or more, as you will be facing me in court, standing against all of you. No matter what tricks you have, it's not going to work." Ryan turned around, and just as he was about to walk out of the room, he heard a woman laughing loudly. Ryan turned back to see who it was, and it was Margaret. She was laughing loudly and then said, "My dear boy, who do you think I am? You never understood and always underestimated your aunt. You think I didn't know you had someone following me? I was well aware of it, and that's why I came here today. I knew he told you about the property, and I know you must have told everything to that witch and her family by now. I did take your threats seriously. Trust me, I did. That is why I knew, until you are there in town, I couldn't get that little girl. But you are not there at this moment to protect them, are you? I tricked you so you would come here to threaten me while I can do what I was supposed to do. Ryan got upset and asked, 'Tell me, what did you do, Margaret? I will not allow any harm to Myra and her family.' Margaret, with a smile on her face, said, 'Well, turns out I didn't need you at all. We came up with a backup plan. While you are here arguing, the social services are there to pick the child. You know, someone called them and told them the mother is not fit to take care of a child, and neither are her parents financially or physically fit to take care of a little girl. This someone also told the social services the mother ran in front of a car, trying to commit suicide by running in front of a car, and she is depressed and might harm the kid. I even told them that I am the grandmother of the child, and the burden of proving the truth that she is not my grandchild would be on her. Margaret then said, 'I was, however, surprised – how can Albert leave his property to an outsider? I mean, we did so much for him. I got rid of that Myra so he could get his business deal with Michael, his friend.' I promised to take Michael's daughter as my daughter-in-law and sacrificed my son's happiness – I mean, his brother and I did so much for that old, selfish Albert. Watching all your life's hard work slip out through your fingers, a useless girl and a pathetic child. I will never let that happen. I never knew about the child, or else I would never have let it be born and cause me so much trouble. I don't know how that old Albert found out about her. I needed you to be far away, Ryan, so you don't interfere with my plan, you miserable orphan boy. Now you cannot do anything once that Emma is a part of the system, and I can get her to me and make that Myra choose between the money or her daughter, as pathetic as she is, I am sure she will choose the girl. I will make her sign the papers and also force her to marry Jack again. If she wouldn't want me to sue her for charges of hiding Jack's daughter, so that pathetic witch and her daughter would wish they were never born. I will make her life a living hell until her daughter is 18, so she gets fed up and signs everything to us. Then we throw those two bags of garbage to the street, just like I got rid of you, Ryan. Ryan couldn't believe what he was hearing and was restless. He tried to leave the room, but Margaret wouldn't move away from the door. He wanted to leave as soon as possible because he promised Cynthia he would protect Myra at any cost. Ryan was outraged and feeling helpless. He tried to take his phone out to call his friends to stop what was about to happen, but Margaret snatched his phone and threw it on the floor, and it broke. Ryan screamed in anger, Margaret how dare you. If you weren't my mother's sister, I swear. He then shouted, 'Margaret and Jack, you are cowards, worse than leeches and parasites. But I know how to deal with your kind. You tricked me today, but I swear I will not let you harm that family any further while I am alive.' He then pushed Margaret away from the door and ran out of the building. He went to his car, but someone seemed to have punctured all four tires intentionally. He remembered Jack walking out of the room. He then ran towards a man who was on his phone and begged him to let him make a call. He called his friend, the mayor, and told him everything. The mayor tried to stop the processing by social services, but it was too late. They had already snatched away Emma from her grandparents and took her away. Ryan sat down on the street feeling guilty and helpless, again, thinking how he would ever face Cynthia and Myra now.
