The Kitty Tea Spell
CHAPTER 7:Cat Thief
You were sitting on your couch in the living room. Kai was sitting on the table in front of you. He had just told you how he ended up in his kitten form and about the upcoming tournament.
"Well that explains why you tried to stop me from drinking the tea she gave me." You said thoughtfully.
"Hn, it would be troublesome if you turned in to a kitten. Besides I need you as a human." He replied closing his eyes.
"Need me? What do you mean?" He gave you a small glare.
"I just told you about the tournament, what do you think I need you for." You just looked at him, not getting his point. He sighed.
"Dranzer, I need you to get him for me."
"What! How am I supposed to do that?" you asked.
"Just knock on the gates to the Hiwatari mansion, tell them you're a kitten and ask them to please give me Dranzer." Kai was on his feet in an instant.
"You can never tell anyone I'm a kitten! Ever!" he growled. It was the first time he had ever talked to you like that. He sounded cold and like he didn't care about anyone else. It kind of hurt. Even if you had just known him for a couple of hours, kitten Kai was one of your best friends. Having the small bluish grey kitten hiss at you like that made it feel like it had all been an act.
"I know that, I would never tell. It's not like anyone would believe me anyways. Besides, your my friend right?" you hesitated when you said the last part. You remember what people have said about the famous Kai Hiwatari, he doesn't care and don't need anyone. However, the kittens expression soften and he looked away slightly embarrassed.
"Yes and I know." You both turned quiet. You were reviled that he didn't just see you as a nobody. He looked out the window at the darkening sky.
"So how did you plan for me to get Dranzer?" you finally asked, making him look back at you.
"I can't believe you're making me do this!" you whispered as you sneak along the fence of the Hiwatari mansion.
"Quiet. Besides it's my house, so it's not illegal." He replied as he continued leading the way to a special part of the wall. An overhanging tree helped you get to the other side and into the garden. You quickly sneaked across the grass and stopped under a small balcony located on the second floor.
"That's my bedroom. The butler probably put my clothes on the stool by the end of the bed. Dranzer should still be in the right side pocket." Kai explained.
"And how do I get up there, I can't fly." You whisper back.
"Use the wine, it will hold." He said referring to the plant that grew up the wall.
"How do you know?" you asked uncertain that the skinny branches really would hold.
"Because I've done it before. Now go." He replied as a matter of fact. You turn quiet and look at him in the dark.
How many times has Kai snuck out of the mansion? I guess being rich and famous isn't all that great. You thought as you started feeling slightly sorry for him. But then Kai gives you one of his kitty glares.
"What are you waiting for, go!" he hissed snapping you back to the present situation, breaking in to his house to get his beyblade. You quickly nod and start climbing the wine.
A bit to your surprise the branches do hold and soon you're by the edge of the balcony. However you weren't quite sure on how you would actually get on it. It wasn't as if you broke in to many houses in your life, in fact this was the first time. Struggling a bit you somehow managed to get onto the balcony. Quite pleased with yourself you walked over to the big glass doors and looked inside. It was completely dark, which confirmed that no one was there. You gently pulled the doors to open them, but they didn't budge, they were locked. You bite your lip, wondering what to do. Then you remembered that Tess had once showed you how to pick a lock. She had said;
"You never know when you will lose your keys so it's best to be prepared." Checking your pockets you found the hair pin she had given you and ordered you to carry around. You mentally thank her before bending down to the lock and start picking it. You quickly find out you either aren't very good at picking locks or the door has been made to not allow such easy tricks, probably both.
"What are you doing, hurry up!" Kai hissed from bellow.
"I'm sorry, but the door won't open." You whispered back.
"Why aren't you using the key?"
"Key?"
"It's under the railing where you climbed up." Walking over to where he said you let your fingers trace the underside of the railing. Your fingers...
