Ram:Essence of life

Lord Ram, the most revered God of India. It is believed that he was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is not only worshiped due to the above belief rather he is worshiped because of his character. The kind of person he was. He was a man of virtues commonly called as 'Maryada Purshottam'. Recently I saw Ramayana, and I was carried away by Ram’s character. He was one in a trillion(maybe) kind of. He was an epitome of a perfect son, a perfect brother, a perfect friend, a perfect husband, a perfect king, and a generous enemy.

He taught me a lot of life lessons like patience, acceptance, forgiveness, perseverance, true love, etc.

From the beginning, his life was full of disasters and hardships, but he faced every challenge with patience and courage.
For the sake of his father’s promise he gave up the royal throne of Ayodhya, like a straw, and went to exile in the forest for fourteen years without any hesitation which is not a common man's ‘a cup of tea’.

In the forest when his wife was kidnapped, he had no idea about her. But, he did not give up on her and started an arduous journey to free his lady-love from the clutches of demon king 'Ravana'.

On his quest towards Lanka neither he took help from his brother 'Bharat’(Prince of Ayodhya) nor ‘Bali’ (king of Kiskindha). It would have been a cakewalk for Bali to defeat 'Ravana', but Ram chose the underprivileged section of society for his help. This was a level of his patience and values which is parallel.

He broke all the myths of untouchability by eating from the hands of a Dalit women ‘Shabri’.
He proved that no one in this world should be differentiated based on caste, creed, gender.

‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’ is also proved by Ram as he helped 'Sugriv' to regain his throne and kingdom.

He was a generous enemy too. I was mesmerized by his character when he told 'Hanuman' to send 'Meghnath’s'(Ravana’s son) body with due respect to Lanka after he was killed by 'Lakshman'.
I can remember his words ‘mrityu k paschyat koi hamara satru nhi hota’.

After defeating ‘Ravana’, he did not capture his land rather with due respect he handed over the throne to 'Vibhishan’ (Ravana’s brother).

On returning to Ayodhya, he displayed an epitome of generosity by not keeping any grudges or complaints against ‘Kaikayi’ and ‘Manthra’ who were the reason for his sufferings.

He was a great King who sacrificed his happiness for the sake of people by estranging his innocent wife who was an 'apple of his eyes'. He knew that Sita was pure, but bonded by a king’s duty he estranged his pregnant wife. It was a supreme sacrifice which a normal man is not capable of doing.
After dealing with a series of problems I am stunned to see him calm, compose, and smiling.

He was an embodiment of true lover, after disowning Sita (who was his soul) he never enjoyed any luxury of the royal palace. He used to sleep on the floor and abstain from the delicious food and luxury of the royal palace and rejected the proposal of remarriage.

In the journey of life, Ram never lost his patience, faced every hardship with utmost courage.
He upheld his values and move ahead in life with accepting every difficulty with valor.
He taught us that life is an arduous journey full of hardships and challenges. We should face it with a smile and never give up.
Lord Ram is and will be ideal for us.

Jai Shree Ram!
