'What's all the fuss about'
It's been more than 16 years Give a bark or two since a feisty young lady entered our home and stamped her indelible mark on the house of Marsden-Hill in 199 Main Road, Hermanus.

The advent of her arrival further flustered Strider, a giant of a gentleman dog, confronted by a female tartar barely able to make 6 inches ground clearance at the shoulder blades. Her debut turn was to grip Striders lip with her teeth and swing him into submission. Something he readily complied with in typical good humour.

And this was the inauspicious beginnings of one of nature's most incongruous love stories. One that lasted for approximately 15 years and only died literally, when Strider reached the end of his earthly tenure and left us to chase rabbits and hares across the milky way.

We swear blind that on a clear starlit night we would often see the silver trail he burned into the night sky in hot pursuit of a hare or rabbit.

When learning of our explanation of celestial trails as such people would say no your mistaken they are shooting stars. I would look deeply into their eyes and nod my agreement. It is not that I acquiesce to their opinion because in a way they are right because Strider, we knew, was and always will be a shooting star. Unfortunately for those people only we have the full story of one of God's beautiful creatures with a place in this world and the next. He was and is our inspiration our guiding star.

'I'm wishing on a Star, to follow where you are...'

He went from us physically so the he could return to us spiritually.

The life these two dogs had together fot the best part of both their lives are stuff of what books are made. They lived, side by side happily, inter-dependant and always within sight of one another.

When Strider left her forlorn she mourned for weeks, which caused us to get her a friend. We Enter Cody a young upstart who announced his arrival so candidly. It took some time but Cody swayed the opinion of him. Andy Cody developed into a stalwart and definitely chosen by Atrider to help her through her passing.

He was there as we were when Angel passed at home on the stoep in the warm winter sun in Sharon's arms at 3.05pm June 4th 2020 at 16.5 years old. She passed peacefully.

An Era has closed and our beloved little girl has gone to join her beloved Strider to renew their liaison.

Strider and Angel now departed and Cody the one left behind all hold a special place in our hearts. The pleasure is and has been all ours.

One thing Angel left behind was her rapid response to my often used question to her which was 'What's all the fuss about?', and her immedate response to a n7action.
