They thought they had found the key. The key to unlocking the secrets of the disease that had haunted mankind for ages. The disease that had no name, no signs, no remedy. The disease that struck like lightning and killed like fire, without rhyme or reason.
The study was backed by the World Health Organization and involved 10 of the best doctors in the world. They were chosen for their skills, their bravery, and their readiness to gamble their lives for the sake of science and humanity.
They were flown to a hidden laboratory in Switzerland, where they were granted access to the most cutting-edge equipment and technology. They were also granted access to the most valuable and perilous resource: samples of the disease itself.
The samples were stored in a high-security vault, under severe quarantine and isolation protocols. Only the 10 doctors were permitted to enter the vault, wearing full-body protective suits and masks. They had to endure strenuous decontamination procedures before and after each visit.
